Long Days and Pleasant Nights

I have been enamored with Stephen King's sci-fi fantasy opus, The Dark Tower, since I finished the series last year. I promptly watched the 2017 movie starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey and, like most fans of the books, was extremely disappointed. This presented a brilliant opportunity for me to bring my own vision of the series to life...

To Remember the Face of my Father

The book series is (without spoiling anything!) an amalgamation of genres, tropes, stereotypes, and numerous pop culture references across the 20th century. I poured many hours of research across not only events, objects, and lore from the books, but into mid-century bowling alleys, aspirin cases from the 1970s, the differences between standard denim jeans and dungarees, Camel cigarettes (specifically with the 1977 filters), and the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

Clothing and props were sourced in-person from thrift stores and online from sellers on eBay and Etsy. Acrylic paints, scissors, markers, numerous grades of sand paper, laser engraving machines, leather oil, box cutters, fire, and lots of Mod Podge sealed the deal, resulting in a comprehensive costume filled with painstakingly accurate props. Photos were shot in the Imperial Sand Dunes of the Sonoran Desert.
